Where foundries lose money

Metal, energy and rejection decide the margin

A foundry buys metal by the tonne and sells good castings by the piece. When charge sheets, heat numbers, rejections and runner-riser returns sit in registers, nobody knows the real yield or the cost of a casting until month-end.

Charge on paper

What went into each furnace charge is written in a register and never reconciled with stock.

Yield unknown

Poured weight, good castings and returns are not compared charge by charge.

Rejection found late

Casting defects are counted after fettling or at the customer.

Castings at vendors

Machining, fettling or painting at vendors is tracked on phone calls.

One continuous flow

From incoming metal to dispatched casting

01 · Purchase & gate

Ingots, scrap and alloys received against the PO.

02 · Incoming quality

Composition (element details) recorded per lot; accepted and rejected quantity with a reason.

03 · Furnace charge

Charge generated from incoming lots and own returns; casting entry with charge details.

04 · Casting & fettling

Output, rejection and scrap recorded by charge; returns go back to stock.

05 · Outside processes

Machining, fettling or painting at vendors on returnable gate passes.

06 · Inspection

Stage-wise and final inspection, PPM and defect Pareto.

07 · Dispatch & invoice

Packing slip by batch, GST invoice and receipts.

Built for foundries

What Tejaxo ERP controls in a casting unit

Composition at receipt

Element details of incoming metal recorded at material inward, so every lot carries its composition.

Furnace charge and casting entry

Charge generated from issued lots and own returns, with the casting entry linked to the charge.

Heat and batch traceability

Heat or charge number carried from receipt through casting, inspection and packing to the invoice – forward and backward, with MTC where the customer asks for it.

Barcode on the shop floor

Barcode labels printed for each lot; stages entered by scanning on a tablet.

Rejection and yield

Rejection with a reason, scrap and returns recorded by charge; scrap-yield, PPM, defect Pareto and cost of poor quality.

Outside processes

Machining, fettling, shot blasting or painting at vendors on returnable gate passes, with pending, ageing, charges and ITC-04; stock in pieces billed in kg where needed.

Work-order costing

Metal at its receipt rate, machine time, labour and overhead per work order, against the invoiced value.

Customer schedules

Delivery schedules per order line, day-wise dispatch plan and OTIF.

Rejection alerts

Rejection above the limit flagged before the next pour.

Approvals in one tap

Purchase orders from the action inbox or WhatsApp.

Full audit trail

Every entry and approval recorded – who, what and when.

FAQ

Questions foundries ask

One system for a foundry: metal purchase with composition, furnace charge and casting entries, rejection and yield, outside processes, inspection, dispatch, GST and accounts.

Yes. The charge is generated from incoming lots and own returns, and the casting entry is linked to the charge, so stock and yield follow each charge.

Yes. The heat or charge number and the incoming lot with its composition are carried through every step to the packing slip and invoice.

Rejection is recorded with a reason, scrap and returns by charge, and scrap-yield, PPM and defect Pareto reports show where metal is lost.

Castings go out on returnable gate passes and come back against them, with pending quantity, ageing, job-work charges and ITC-04.

Yes. Tejaxo works on-site and remotely across India, with fast on-site support in Delhi NCR from our Palwal office.
