How many machines does this month need? From work orders and cycle times to required vs available machines and load % per type.
Orders are in. The question every plant head asks: do we have enough machines this month, and which type will run short?
Three one-time setups, the daily work orders you already make, and one monthly calculation give the answer.
In the capacity machine master, load your machines and give each a capacity code and a type name, such as CNC, VMC or grinding. Rename a type once, and every screen follows.
Then link each product to machine types with its cycle time in seconds per piece.
Each month, select the month, get the month’s work order data, and calculate. Quantity still to be produced times cycle time gives the machine time needed.
The requirement grid shows, item by item, how many machines of each type are needed.
The machine summary then shows required against available for every type, with load percentage and shortfall.
Where required crosses available, you have found the bottleneck weeks before it hits the shop floor.
Plan overtime, outsource in time, or justify a new machine with real load data instead of guesswork.
